Setting up target languages

Before you can start using Frontitude for localization, you need to set up your workspace for multi-language collaboration.

‍

‍

Configure target languages

  1. Navigate to the Localization tab in your workspace settings.
  2. Under Target languages, select your target languages one at a time, and click Add language. Make sure to select the right locale for each language.

‍

Once at least one target language is configured, the language dropdown will appear in the top bar with the source language selected by default, allowing you to switch between languages in projects and the copy library.

‍

‍

Set source language (Recommended)

In order to enhance your experience and enable our AI Translation feature, we recommend that you configure your source language as well.

‍

  1. Navigate to the Localization tab in your workspace settings.
  2. Under Source language, select your source language.

‍

Once selected, you’ll see the specific language (instead of a generic “Source language”) in the languages dropdown in the top bar.

‍

‍

Removing target languages

To remove target languages from Frontitude:

  1. Navigate to the Localization tab in your workspace settings.
  2. Under Target languages, click the trash can icon next to the language you’d like to remove.
  3. Click Remove in the dialog box that appears.

‍

This is a sensitive action that will result in the following outcomes:

  • The deleted languages will be removed from the languages dropdown, preventing translators from accessing translation editing in these languages.
  • All translations stored in these languages will be permanently deleted and cannot be restored.
  • Developers will no longer receive translations in these languages when retrieving content from Frontitude.

‍

However, this action won’t delete any copy components from your library; only their translations in the removed languages will be deleted.
